Desalination influence on diatom alga Chaetoceros socialis f. radians (Bacillariophyta) growth, chlorophyll a, carotenoid and DNA contents were studied. It was shown that the alga was very sensitive and had low adaptation ability to desalination. We consider that Ch. socialis f. radians doesn't have osmoregulation mechanisms.
