Results of research of taxonomic composition, abundance and biomass of representatives of Cyanoprokaryota of the northwestern of the Black Sea are given. 63 species and 67 infraspecific taxa of the blue-green algae were registered. Aphanocapsa salina, Aphanothece salina, Dolichospermum affine, Anabaenopsis elenkinii, A. seriata, Pseudanabaena limnetica, Oscillatoria limosa, Microcystis wesenbergii and Planktothrix sp. were found for the first time in the Black Sea. It is established that in recent years intensive development of Cyanoprokaryota causes water blooms during the summer and early autumn periods. Anabaena spiroides, Aphanizomenon flos-aquae, Nodularia spumigena, Oscillatoria kisselevii, Spirulina laxissima and Microcystis aeruginosa mass types are revealed. Dynamics of the abundance, biomass and a share in the general biomass of a phytoplankton is analyzed. Possible reasons which led to blooming of microalgae are discussed.
