A comparative assessment in four species of green microalgae (Ankistrodesmus braunii (Nägeli) Lemmerm, Chlamidomonas reinhardii Dang, Chlorella vulgaris Beijer, and Halochlorella rubescens P.J.L.Dang) for protein, amino acids, chlorophylls a and b, carotenoids, sulfolipids, and acylcarnitines content was carried out. The content of potentially valuable for biotechnology substances was: Proteins ― 19.17–28.33 mg/g dry weight (DW); Amino acids ― 174.4–374.32 mkM/g DW; Essential amino acids ― 34.88–77.52 mkM/g DW; Acylcarnitines ― 0.91–1.62 mkM/g DW; Sulfolipid ― 0.8–3.83 mg/g DW; Chlorophylls a and b ― 5.86–24.57 mg/g DW; Carotenoids ― 1.18–2.4 mg/g DW. The amino acid content was: A. braunii ― 374.32 mkM/g DW, S. rubescens and C. vulgaris ― 289.22 and 274.97 mkM/g DW, respectively, C. reinhardii ― 174.4 mkM/g DW. The content of five essential amino acids (valine, leucine, methionine, tryptophan, phenylalanine) was highest in S. rubescens (77.52 mkM/g DW), 1.5 times lower in A. braunii, 1.9 times lower in C. vulgaris, and 2.2 times lower in C. reinhardii. The total content of 15 acylcarnitines was approximately 1.5 times higher in A. braunii and C. vulgaris than in C. reinhardii and S. rubescens. The sulfolipid content was highest in A. braunii (3.83 mg/g DW), almost two times lower in C. vulgaris, and 4.5 times lower in C. reinhardii and S. rubescens. The total content of chlorophylls a and b was highest in C. reinhardii (24.57 mg/g DW), and the carotenoid content was highest in A. braunii (2.4 mg/g DW).
