Abstract

In water bodies of the National Nature Park (NNP) Pivnichne Podillya, located in the Lviv Region in Western Ukraine, 116 species (117 infraspecific taxa, ist) of algae were revealed. They belong to 8 divisions, 15 classes, 30 orders, 44 families and 71 genera. Bacillariophyta (33.3%) and Chlorophyta (30.7%) lead in species number. The most common species in the water bodies of the park belong to Cyanoprokaryota (1 species), Dinophyta (1), Euglenophyta (3), Bacillariophyta (14) and Chlorophyta (8). Species diversity of revealed algae differ in water bodies of various types. Rivers (73 species, 74 ist) and mesotrophic bog (52 species, 53 ist) were the richest; fewer species were found in the pond (27 species) and the creek (18 species, 19 ist). The leading complexes of species based on frequency of occurrence in different types of water bodies were different as well. In the studied rivers, Trachelomonas volvocina (Ehrenberg) Ehrenberg, Melosira varians C.Agardh, Coelastrum microporum Nägeli, Desmodesmus communis (E.Hegewald) E.Hegewald, Mucidosphaerium pulchellum (H.C.Wood) C.Bock, Proschold & Krienitz and Pseudopediastrum boryanum (Turpin) E.Hegewald were most frequent. In the bog, the leading complexes incorporated T. volvocina, Aulacoseira granulata (Ehrenberg) Simonsen, M. varians, Ankistrodesmus falcatus(Corda) Ralfs, Desmodesmus armatus (Chodat) E.H.Hegewald and Monoraphidium irregulare (G.M.Smith) Komárková-Legnerová, in the pond – Pseudopediastrum boryanum (Turpin) E.Hegewald, Desmodesmus armatus (Chodat) E.H.Hegewald and Monoraphidium griffithii (Berkeley) Komárková-Legnerová. In the creek it includes Phacus caudatus Hübner, P. longicauda (Ehrenberg) Dujardin and P. tortus (Lemmermann) Skvortsov. In addition, two localities of the association Charetum vulgaris Corillion 1957 were found. All revealed species of algae are first cited for studied NNP.
