About the Journal

Algologia is an international Open Access journal covering various aspects of the study of algae (including cyanobacteria).

Aims and Scope
The journal publishes original articles and reviews on a wide range of issues, including systematics, evolution, ecology, biology, and conservation of pro- and eukaryotic algae, as well as paleoalgology, algal biotechnology, and related conservation topics. Considerable attention is paid to studies on the interaction of algae with other organisms and their role in natural ecosystems. The journal also publishes methodological and technical articles, reviews, short communications, and memorial articles. The international editorial board of the journal includes well-known experts in algae, each of whom serves as a scientific editor for a specific section. The primary criterion for acceptance of an article is the originality of the material, as well as its scientific and technical validity and its value for the development of phycological research.

Since 2019, articles published in the journal Algologia are distributed under the CC-BY 4.0 license. All articles are freely and immediately available to readers in PDF format on the journal's website without charging authors a publication fee (Diamond Open Access).
